A green space courtyard where a beautiful mural, created by a team of
local artists, depicts buildings that no longer exist in Downtown

The Pavilion located on the riverfront has a covered dance floor and
is the site of many summer events including ARTSPLASH on Labor Day Weekend, and the Big Parade
in conjunction with Saturday in the Park, it is enjoyed year round and is on the extensive trail system throughout the city.
Flight 232 Memorial
Near Anderson Dance Pavilion
Commemorating the heroic rescue efforts shown by the Sioux City community after the crash of United Flight 232 in 1989, the statue depicts Colonel Dennis Nielson carrying a young child to safety. The memorial is part of Sioux City's riverfront development.

Enhancing the downtown landscape, the Art Center is a cornerstone of
Sioux City’s cultural district. The stunning building’s contemporary
architecture welcomes visitors with its elegant three-story glass
atrium accented with a geometric maze fashioned from terrazzo tile.
Housing a permanent collection of over
900 works ranging from traditional to contemporary art, the Art Center
has dedicated galleries featuring selections from its growing
collection, including a Grant Wood mural. Throughout the year, other
gallery space introduces audiences to touring exhibits of works by
artists with international, national and regional reputation. For over
70 years the Art Center has provided family entertainment and cultural
resources. Learning opportunities abound with scheduled gallery tours,
presentations in the 131-seat lecture hall and a free publication. The

The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center focuses on a day in the life of the explorers as they traveled through what is now the Sioux City area. The death and burial of Sergeant Charles Floyd on August 20, 1804, is at the heart of the story. History comes to life in exhibits that use dozens of interactive devices, including
animatronic mannequins. A videotape presentation, produced exclusively for the interpretive center, is shown every 15 minutes on the quarter hour in the Keelboat Theater. The center's bookstore offers a wide range of books and gift items for all ages. The grounds feature a
30 by 50-foot, 15 star 15 stripe U. S. Flag, a replica of the flag Lewis and Clark carried. It flies atop a
150 foot flagpole. A 14 foot tall bronze sculpture depicts Lewis and
Clark and Lewis's Newfoundland dog, Seaman.

The Long Lines Family Rec Center provides recreational facilities for individuals as well as organized recreational associations. The center has courts for open gym, soccer, basketball, volleyball, in-line hockey, dodgeball, wrestling, batting cage, and special events. There are conference rooms for meetings, parties, and other small events. The center can be used for birthday parties, weddings, corporate conferences, after-prom parties or large banquets.

Sculpt Siouxland is a yearlong exhibit displaying sculpture
from local and national artists. This exhibit is free to the
public and displayed on downtown streets of Sioux City, Iowa.
Sculptures are on loan from the artist for one year. At least
one piece of art will be purchased in order to form a permanent display for downtown Sioux City.
The exhibit will close with a live auction of the other artists’
work at the annual Sculpt Siouxland Celebration.

Sgt. Floyd River Museum & Welcome Center

Board the M. V. Sergeant Floyd and begin a journey into the
region's maritime history. Built in 1932 as an inspection boat by
the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Sergeant Floyd River Museum
and Welcome Center chronicles the Missouri River's development as
a major shipping route and the key to Sioux City's success in the
early years of its founding. As an official Iowa and Nebraska
Welcome Center, the Sergeant Floyd also provides travel planning
for the tri-state region. The Sergeant Floyd's location within
Chris Larsen Park provides views of the Missouri River, picnic
sites and access to the riverfront trails system. Visit the Floyd

Arts Alive Mural

Located on the Wells Fargo portion of the Terra Centre, this beautiful mural welcomes visitors into downtown and is a wonderful example of community pride, bringing art to the public, and a positive project for the City's young art students. As a project designed, created, and assembled by high school art students, it really creates a positive effort that these individuals and the community as whole can be proud of for decades to come.
